Cancelling and taking your things with you
You can cancel monthly, without a notice period. In the portal, open the site's Settings, choose Cancel and confirm. You can also cancel by email or through a ticket; we then do it for you. The direct debit stops immediately and your site stays online until the day your next direct debit would have been collected, the end of the period you already paid for. The confirmation email gives the exact date.
Changed your mind before that date? Open the site's Settings in the portal and choose Keep my site. Your site carries on, and the direct debit starts again on the day it would have fallen anyway.
After the end date the site is taken offline and the files are kept for another thirty days, so a change of mind costs nothing. After those thirty days the files and the database are deleted for good. On Platform we settle your usage one last time, up to the moment the site goes offline, and an amount under € 10 lapses.
Take your things with you before the end date:
- A static site: in the portal, open the site, go to Settings and choose Download as zip. You get every file you published.
- An app with a database: ask for a database export in a ticket. We send you a download link to a
pg_dumpof your database: the copy from last night, or a fresh one if you ask. You can load it into any Postgres. - Invoices: every invoice stays downloadable as PDF in the portal until the end of the retention period.
- Your domain name: open your site's page in the portal and choose Request transfer code. We take the lock off and email you the code. Already offline? For 30 days after your site goes offline, the overview in the portal still shows your domain, with a link to the code. Did you connect a domain you registered elsewhere? Then you get the transfer code from that registrar, and you change its nameservers there too: until you do, it points to us. The cancellation email says per domain what to do. After those 30 days, you ask support for the transfer code of a domain we registered. A domain is yours, not ours, and moving it costs nothing here.
Email forwarding stops when your site goes offline. Want your email to keep arriving? Move your domain first, or ask support before the end date to point your MX records at your new provider.
Cancelling does not delete your account. Your tickets and invoices stay visible, so you can look things up later. After two years without a site, a subscription, an invoice or a sign-in, we delete the account. We email you a month before, and signing in stops it. Download your invoices before then if you still need them.
